Rating: PG
Summary: The Hennessy siblings depend on each other.
Notes: And the second intro piece.
She's driven another one off, sneering and mocking until he got disgusted and left. It hurts, but it's for the best. Miranda thinks that she'll remember that soon.
A knock on her door and she looks up, lets her feet fall to the floor. "Carlita?"
Charlotte's mouth is wobbling. "Bad day," she says, quietly. "May I sit with you?"
"Of course." Miranda pats the bed beside her, and when her sister sits, hugs her close and kisses the crown of her head. "Do you want to talk about it?"
Charlotte shakes her head, and Miranda lets them lapse into silence.
She isn't really surprised a minute later when the door to her room opens and Jack enters, without bothering to announce himself.
Her brother smiles at her, a little wryly, a little hurt. "I kissed Felix," he says, without preamble, "and blamed it on being drunk. Got a minute?"
Miranda sighs, and nudges Charlotte over a little. "Come here."
Jack crosses the room, climbs up on her bed, and tucks himself against her side, resting his head against her collarbone. Miranda puts an arm around his shoulder, feels him let out a shuddering sigh and then be still.
A moment later, Charlotte's hand creeps across Miranda's lap and takes hold of Jack's wrist. He sighs again, less gusty, and turns his hand over, takes Charlotte's wrist in turn, so they are all three connected, a completed circle.
"I love you both," Miranda says, and smiles a little when they both nod.
