Stuck

Title: Stuck
Rating: PG
Summary: Jack should stop annoying Miranda.
Notes: For SWL's prompt "X me- Jack and Charlotte; Jack is stuck to something."

Charlotte came in, and stopped dead just over the doorway, her eyes rounding. "Jack?"

"Hola," he said, and gave a little wave. It was a little wave because he genuinely could not move any other part of his body.

"What..." she began. She trailed off, looking at him, then shook her head sharply. "What..."

She was never going to get the question out if he let her flounder around on her own. "I pissed off Miranda," he said, succinctly.

"Oh," Charlotte said. "I see." She stared at him for another moment. "I... how did you piss off Miranda?"

Jack could not shrug dismissively, but he dearly wanted to. "A little brains, a little talent. A few words. Few more actions. You know how it goes."

"I do not," she said severely, or what passed for severely coming from Charlotte. They weren't very severe at all, so Jack only smiled his most charming smile.

"That is because you are our dear Carlita," he told her, "and we would never involve you in our mutual hatred."

It wasn't really hatred, actually. Jack loved both his sisters dearly. It was just that Charlotte was considerably easier to adore and much more difficult to annoy, and not at all fun to tease or prank, because she usually cried, and the last thing he wanted to do was hurt her. Miranda, on the other hand, always got angry and stormed off, and if her retaliations weren't so swift and terrible she would be the perfect victim.

Alackaday, she was both swift and terrible, and so... this.

"Um," Charlotte said. She bit her lip. "I don't... would you like some help?"

He tried to nod, and remembered he couldn't. "I would love some help," he said, instead. "Maybe some scissors."

She looked him over again. "Really sharp scissors," she said.

"The sharpest," Jack agreed.

"I'll go get some," she said, and turned to go, but paused on the lintel, and finally turned around again. "Jack... just one more thing."

"Yup?" His toes were starting to tingle. That was probably a bad sign.

"I just..." Charlotte shook her head again. "How did Miranda manage to duct-tape you to the wall?"

Jack still couldn't shrug, dammit. "Sources still unclear," he lied, and when Charlotte was safely away from the room, he grinned.

One roll of duct tape, two hostage homework assignments, and at least three warnings that Miranda would gag him next time, plus Charlotte's bewilderment and slight disappointment, all in the debit column. In retrospect today had been less than ideal.

Still.

Totally worth it.
